The Tuscan Countryside in Portland's Backyard

Escape to Sauvie Island

Sauvie Island is an absolute treasure in our backyard.  I first discovered Sauvie Island in August of 2006.  Having just returned from studying abroad in Italy, I was missing the rolling countryside I had called home for 3 months.
And then I saw…
the sunflowers...

From sandy beaches, cool water, bike rides, berry picking, farm animals, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, fresh local meat & produce, Sauvie Island has everything you need for an adventurous afternoon.

Ross and I saw Kidnapped for Christ at the Mission Theater yesterday and this is absolutely a film you don't want to miss.  We were heartbroken and inspired by director & co-writer Kate S. Logan's courageous determination when she discovers the truth behind the ways of a Christian boarding school that calls itself a rehabilitation for troubled teens in the Dominican Republic.

We are so lucky to have this exposure to beautiful and groundbreaking film making.  Portland, take advantage of it!
